Acupuncture is based on TCM (Traditional Chinese Medicine). The body has 12 primary meridians (channels), which run throughout the body, have acupuncture points along the way and correlate with certain organs. The goal with acupuncture treatment is to promote free flow of qi to achieve balance in the body.

More than just needles….
Acupuncturists will look at your signs and symptoms, tongue and will take your pulse. When coming up with a treatment plan, acupuncturists have more than just needles to choose from.
Fire Cupping: Involves a glass cup in which a flame is swirled inside and quickly placed on the body which creates a ‘vacuum’ seal. This warms and promotes free flow of qi, dispels cold damp and diminishes swelling and pain. This can leave bruise like markings which should disappear within a few days.
Gua Sha: Involves a tool that is used to scrape the skin to promote free flow of qi and move stagnation. It is used for colds and fevers as well. It can leave tiny bruise like markings and sounds rather intense but it does not hurt! In fact it feels quite good!
Moxibustion: Is made of mugwort (a dry leafy material), which is burned. It can come in stick, loose and needle head forms. Used to promote and regulate qi/blood in the meridians and expel cold. It does have a strong smell when burned. * Please note at this time I do not offer traditional moxibustion at this location*
Tui Na: Is a type of body work that uses techniques to open channels, improve qi and blood circulation and remove stagnation.
Auricular Acupuncture: a whole system that is based on the ear. Needles can be used, but for a non-invasive options there is ear seeds. A vaccaria seed placed on the ear with tape and can be stimulated by gently rubbing.
